BEIRUT: The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces warned company owners Thursday of electronic hacking schemes following a recent spate of complaints made by businesses that lost money, according to a statement from the ISF.
Following investigations being carried out by the ISF and the judicial police, the majority of businesses that were hacked were found to be ones that imported goods from abroad and had created email accounts to ease communication.
The perpetrators hacked into the email accounts and, posing as the businesses, asked other Lebanese companies to transfer the value of goods intended to be imported to foreign banks, the statement said.
