Lebanese man kidnapped in Bekaa Valley released

BEIRUT: A Lebanese businessman who was kidnapped earlier in the week in the Bekaa Valley was released Friday in Mount Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.

Adib al-Murr was released in the suburbs of Mount Lebanon where he later contacted his family, the state-run news agency said.

A security sources told The Daily Star Thursday that police suspected Murr was the victim of a kidnapping after his vehicle was found abandoned in the Bekaa Valley town of Ferzol.

He reportedly telephoned one of his employees at his plastic factory in Ferzol and told him he was being chased, the source said.

Murr specified his location to the employee who immediately drove to the spot where he found the businessman’s vehicle empty and the windshield smashed.
