L’Orient du jour launches year 2050 article contest

BEIRUT: Lebanon’s French-language newspaper L’Orient du Jour, in cooperation with the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, Wednesday launched a competition for college students studying journalism to write a forward-looking article for the year 2050. 

Applicants are asked to imagine themselves as journalists writing for a reputable newspaper in 2050 and submit an article about a subject of their choice. 

The winner will receive a $5,000 university scholarship, and the second- and third-place winners will have the opportunity for an internship at a newspaper and other prizes.
