BEIRUT: Caretaker Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi urged Friday newly appointed judicial employees to fight corruption.
Qortbawi made the comments during a ceremony for 125 recently appointed judicial assistants at the Bar Association offices in the Beirut neighborhood of Mathaf. He addressed the issue of bribery in his speech.
“It is well known that public sector salaries are not alluring, and we didn’t lie to any of you in this regard.
However, I want you to keep in mind that there is a contagious virus in the public sector called bribery. As a citizen I want to make sure that this phenomenon is combatted,” he said.
Of the political situation, Qortbawi said: “We will be resilient in standing unified against terrorism by continuing our work to stress that Lebanon will survive and life will go on.”
