BEIRUT: Beirut airport customs thwarted Monday an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of pure cocaine from Cyprus into the country, a source at the airport told The Daily Star.

A 49-year-old Lebanese man, identified by his initials A. D., was arrested and four kilograms of cocaine was seized from him, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

The drugs were found after a search of the man’s luggage, the source said.
