ISF: Leave ID in car window to prevent panic

BEIRUT: The Internal Security Forces asked citizens Sunday to place an identification card with contact details on their vehicle’s dashboard when parked in a nondesignated space, citing security reasons.

The statement said the request was being made “in light of the critical security situation in the country and growing fears of suspicious vehicles … so that [police] can contact them [car owners] when necessary.”

They said the measure would prevent suspicious vehicles causing panic and would help the police avoid having to break into vehicles to search them for explosives.
