BEIRUT: The participation of Lebanese youth in public life is a prerequisite for human development, the head of an international institution for social and human research said Monday.
“I encourage youth to take part in public life and to struggle so that their voices can be heard,” said Adounis Akra, head of the International Center for Human Sciences, which operates under the auspices of UNESCO. “There will be no human development without this participation.”
Akra’s remarks came during a workshop organized by the center in Jbeil on enhancing the role of the Youth Parliament.
Participating in the event were members of the Youth Parliament, Lebanese University professors, young men from civil society groups and political parties in Tripoli.
