BEIRUT: A former official in MP Walid Jumblatt's Progressive Socialist Party was found shot dead Thursday in Mount Lebanon.

Sami Marroush "was found dead in Aley and we are still trying to figure out the motives behind the killing," PSP Secretary-General Zafer Nasser told The Daily Star.

Marroush, 50, was also a dentist and owner of a security company in Lebanon.

His body had two gunshot wounds - one in his neck and one in his chest, a security source said, adding that authorities did not find any weapons at the crime scene.

The state-run National News Agency reported that Marroush was found in his vehicle while other local media said he was discovered near an area where he used to go for his morning walk.

After news emerged of his death, several people took to the streets and burned tires to block a road in Aley.
