HERMEL, Lebanon: Five rockets from Syria hit the northeastern region of Hermel Saturday, a security source said, adding that there were no reports of casualties, in an attack claimed by a group affiliated to the Nusra Front in Lebanon and Abdullah Azzam Brigades.
The rockets were fired from the eastern mountain range in Syria and struck different parts of the Hermel region, causing only material damage, the source said.
There was a similar incident Friday when rockets fired from the stretch of mountains hit the area.
In a jointly signed statement, the Nusra Front in Lebanon and Abdullah Azzam Brigades said the Marwan Hadid Brigades, one of their affiliates, claimed responsibility for firing seven rockets into the Hermel.
The statement was posted on twitter Saturday.
