BEIRUT: Lebanese Army Chief Gen. Jean Kahwagi traveled to Saudi Arabia Friday to discuss the details of the grant Riyadh recently announced it would give to support the military.

Kahwagi received an official invitation to visit the kingdom where he is expected to meet several high-ranking officials, the Army said in a statement.

Accompanied by a military delegation, Kahwagi will discuss military aid and the Saudi grant.

President Michel Sleiman announced earlier this month that the kingdom offered Lebanon a $3 billion pledge to buy weapons from France to help support the Army.
