BEIRUT: Firefighters doused a blaze Thursday that ripped through a guardhouse in Downtown Beirut.

A source at the Beirut Fire Department said the fire engulfed the entire shack, which houses between 7 and 8 beds.

However there were no casualties from the fire, which broke out at 6:45 a.m. near Al-Omari Mosque.

The source said it was not immediately clear whether the shack belonged to Parliament's security or the Lebanese Army.

The cause of the blaze was yet to be determined, the source added.
