BEIRUT: Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai called on youths Friday to return to their roots, praising the efforts toward maintaining agricultural development at the Maronite seat’s summer house and voicing hope that Lebanese politicians would exercise similar cooperation.
“We call on the youths in Diman and elsewhere to be aware of the importance of the need to return to their roots, to the benevolent earth which has throughout our history been synonymous with sufficiency and therefore freedom,” Rai said after checking on the irrigation projects being implemented at the summer house in the northern Lebanon town of Diman.
The patriarch toured the lake and orchards in the presence of Energy and Water Ministry Director General Fadi Qomair as well as a number of cardinals, bishops and priests.
“This renaissance of agricultural development taking place on our land in Diman is a living example … of cooperation and unified efforts, and it is a model I wish the political figures would imitate,” he added.
