BEIRUT: Defense Minister Samir Moqbel Thursday headed a meeting with different representatives of the security forces, to discuss a new retirement-age draft law for security forces’ officers.
The meeting was held at Moqbel’s office in the ministry, with the committee responsible for writing the new draft law. The committee included representatives of the Army, Internal Security Forces, General Security, State Security and Customs.
“It was the first meeting for the committee, and we have asked it to continue the meetings to draft the requested law in a deadline of three weeks,” Moqbel said after the meeting.
The committee, Moqbel explained, will meet on a weekly basis until the Higher Defense Council approves the law and presents it to the Cabinet.
