BEIRUT: Police have cleared a protest by relatives of a Lebanese man arrested four days ago that was blocking the main Arida road leading to the northern Lebanese-Syrian border.

Security sources said family and friends of Hussam Homayyed had cut off the road with blocks and burning tires for a couple of hours, before the police intervened and reopened it.

It is unclear why Homayyed was arrested by General Security in Beirut.
