BEIRUT: The Internal Security Forces announced Monday that two Lebanese men were arrested over suspicion of multiple counts of armed robbery, using fake taxi cars and falsely claiming to be police.
The police released a statement Monday saying it arrested A.T, 47, and Y.S, 33, Friday for carrying out robberies in which their victims, mostly Syrian workers, were threatened with weapons and forced to hand over all their money.
The thieves used two Kia Rio cars, and have confessed to the authorities that they robbed over 30 people, using a false claim that they were security officers when specifically targeting Syrian workers, the statement added.
Their latest victim was a Chinese student who was robbed of LL600,000 Tuesday, the statement said. The ISF is calling for other victims to come forward, either by visiting the Baabda police department or calling 05-921-115 or 05-922-173.
