BEIRUT: Guards in Aley’s prison Tuesday busted an attempt to smuggle hashish hidden inside pistachios mixed with other nuts, according to an Internal Security forces statement.

The statement explained that the drugs were hidden inside empty pistachio shells, which were glued back together to hide the hash.

In an attempt to pass them to prisoner H.H, the smuggler, A.I, 22, had covered the pistachios with salt and hidden them inside one kilogram of nuts to avoid suspicion. The statement said there were 21 hash-filled pistachios discovered.

A.I. was arrested for interrogation, the statement added.
