BEIRUT: The Israeli air force resumed airstrikes Thursday on the Gaza Strip after the expiration of a five-hour truce, Al-Mayadeen television reported.
The Israeli military said it had launched mortar attacks on Gaza after a soldier was wounded in an explosion, but has not confirmed any airstrikes since the beginning of Thursday's humanitarian cease-fire.
Live TV coverage had shown two rockets being launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel right after the truce expired at 3 p.m.
The Israeli army said that a rocket attack from Gaza had hit Ashkelon.
Israel and Hamas are negotiating a new, comprehensive cease-fire to begin Friday at 6 a.m.
