BEIRUT: Hezbollah criticized rivals in the Future Movement-led March 14 coalition Thursday for showing support for the resistance in Gaza while attacking the Lebanese resistance.

“If we disagree with the others, it’s because we disagree with their vision on the resistance,” said the head of the Hezbollah parliamentary bloc, MP Mohammad Raad.

“Today they [March 14] hail the resistance in Palestine and Gaza and stress that the resistance’s might and steadfastness will end the Israeli aggression,” he said following a meeting with the grand mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani.

“Why is it that the resistance there can end the Israeli aggression, but the resistance here would cause disaster for the country?” Raad asked, while stressing that the resistance was self-imposed.

He acknowledged that ties between Hezbollah and the Future Movement were “semi-severed."

Asked whether this had to do with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s latest speech, Raad said: “There has been no communication whatsoever even before the speech.”
