Karami praises Siniora’s resistance stance

BEIRUT: Former Minister Faisal Karami Thursday described MP Fouad Siniora’s recent stance in support of the resistance as a “historic moment” that should be used for maximum benefit.

“I do not exaggerate if I say that Siniora’s praise of the resistance is a historic moment that should be capitalized on to strengthen national unity, particularly that he mentioned the July war victory of 2006, considering it a victory for the people, resistance, government and all of Lebanon,” said Karami, a rival of the Future Movement.

Siniora delivered a speech Wednesday during a March 14 protest in Downtown Beirut in solidarity with Gaza at which he called on Palestinians to unite behind the resistance and achieve victory just as the Lebanese did during Israel’s 2006 war against Lebanon.

“Regardless of the political or field developments that prompted the Future Movement and the March 14 coalition to announce the honorable stances mentioned in the speech … we open our hearts and minds for them,” Karami said .
