Berri expresses solidarity with Gaza, resistance

BEIRUT: Speaker Nabih Berri Saturday expressed, in a letter to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, solidarity with the Palestinian people in their battle against Israel in Gaza.

“We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in the war against the Zionist enemy in Gaza,” Berri said in the letter to Ramadan Abdullah Shalah, the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The leader of the Amal Movement also commended the “steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance and its achievements despite the brutal massacres.”

He also offered his condolences to Shalah over the death of the Quds Brigades spokesperson Salah Hussein and the Palestinian martyrs in the enclave, where some 888 Palestinians have been killed since the conflict began 19 days ago.

Head of the politburo in the Amal Movement Jamil al-Hayek contacted the representative of the Islamic Jihad in Lebanon, Abu Imad al-Rifai, over the phone and expressed Berri's solidarity with the Palestinians, affirming Amal Movement's support to the people
