Nasrallah will hold meetings set to cause ‘political surprise’
Sources familiar with the weekend meeting between MP Walid Jumblatt and Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said the Hezbollah leader would not promise Jumblatt that he would pull out Gen. Michel Aoun from the presidential race.
The sources told Al-Joumhouria that Nasrallah plans to hold several meetings that are set to cause a political surprise.
Church source: Rai’s call for dialogue with ISIS unrealistic
A church source has asked: “What humanity and what dialogue is possible with those [Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria]?”
Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai has called ISIS to a dialogue.
"Humanity is the only thing we share with you. Come let’s talk and reach an understanding on this basis. ... You rely on the language of arms, terrorism, violence and influence, but we rely on the language of dialogue, understanding and respect for others,” Rai has said.
The church source said Rai’s call was “detached from reality.”
Lebanon won’t celebrate Army Day: sources
Political sources told An-Nahar that there would be no Army Day celebrations on Aug. 1 due to the vacancy in the presidential post as well as the security situation.
