BEIRUT: Former head of the Central Fund for the Displaced Fadi Aramouni was charged Tuesday with embezzlement.
Financial Prosecutor Ali Ibrahim referred Aramouni after he was charged with embezzling public funds, to Ghassan Oweidat, the first investigative judge in Beirut.
Last month, Oweidat indicted Ibrahim Bashir, the former head of the Higher Relief Committee, on charges of embezzling funds allocated for the Sept. 2013 victims of the Indonesian boat accident.
In his indictment, Oweidat requested a 15-year prison term with hard labor for Bashir.
