BEIRUT: Defense Minister Samir Moqbel announced Friday that firearms licenses which were issued during the first half of 2014 would be extended until the end of September.

The decision specified that all the licenses in Tripoli were still stopped. Exceptions to that measure include the personal bodyguards of current and former ministers and MPs, the heads of political parties and the heads of religious institutions.

These guards are only allowed to carry their weapons while working, and only when the person they are protecting is present.
