Berri postpones presidential election session to July 2

BEIRUT: Speaker Nabih Berri postponed Lebanon's presidential election to July 2, after only 63 lawmakers had arrived at Parliament by the scheduled noon start for the legislative session.

Wednesday was the seventh failed attempt to elect a new president since April. The last six sessions have all failed to convene due to a boycott of Hezbollah and Free Patriotic Movement MPs.
