BEIRUT: Unknown assailants kidnapped a Lebanese currency exchange dealer at gunpoint in east Lebanon Thursday, but released him several hours later.

A security source said armed men in a brown Mercedes-Benz intercepted Antoine Kaadi’s vehicle on the Riaq-Zahle highway around 6 a.m. and took him away in an apparent ransom kidnapping.

The kidnappers fled toward the direction of Baalbek, the source told The Daily Star.

The case was referred to Army Intelligence following Kaadi's release.
