BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army searched Wednesday an informal Syrian refugee camp in the Bekaa Valley for guns and bombs as well as Syrian fugitives who may have sought shelter there, a security source said.

The source said that soldiers have a list of several Syrian men “wanted by authorities in Syria.”

It was not immediately clear whether any arrests have been made.

The source said the large-scale search operation at the Syrian campsite in al-Marj, east Lebanon, was a “precautionary measure for maintaining peace in the refugee camp.”
