Two Syrians admit to kidnapping for ransom

BEIRUT: Two Syrian nationals have confessed to kidnapping for ransom by luring in victims from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Sudan, according to a statement from the Internal Security Forces released Wednesday.

The suspects were identified by their initials, A.A., born 1978, and M.S., born 1976.

The two were allegedly part of a network that used Lebanon as a base to entrap Lebanese and foreign victims with the intent of kidnapping them for ransom.

The Intelligence Gathering Division of the ISF has contacted the relevant embassies as part of the ongoing investigation, a security source told The Daily Star.
