Leaders unite to mark UNIFIL anniversary

BEIRUT: The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon held a ceremony to mark their 36 years in south Lebanon.

The ceremony, at UNIFIL’s Naqoura headquarters, was attended by local mayors, the Lebanese Army, security agencies, religious leaders, members of the international community and UNIFIL personnel.

Officer-in-Charge of UNIFIL Karen Tchalian thanked the Army, “who, in spite of demands on their assistance elsewhere in the country, continue to be an excellent partner for UNIFIL.”

Tchalian said international support for the Army was critical to the implementation of Resolution 1701.
