BEIRUT: The police at Rafik Hariri International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal pills to a foreign country Sunday.
A statement by the Internal Security Forces said that the Inspections Department at the airport arrested a Turkman woman, identified by her initials M.C., for attempting to smuggle Captagon pills, which were hidden in her luggage.
The woman was hiding around 4.5 kilograms of Captagon in a double bottom handbag, according to the ISF statement.
During initial investigations, the woman confessed that there were pills inside her luggage and was then arrested and referred to the relevant authorities for further investigations.
