Carload of weapons, RPGS seized in Bekaa

BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army seized Wednesday a car loaded with weapons and rocket-propelled grenades in the Bekaa Valley and arrested the driver and another resident of the border town of Arsal.

Security sources told The Daily Star Mohammad Hujeiri and Hilal Ammoun were stopped late Tuesday night at a Lebanese Army checkpoint in Harabta by Intelligence agents.

When the Volvo was searched, weapons, ammunition and RPGs were found, the sources added.

They said the suspects were being interrogated to determine whether they planned to use or sell the weapons in Lebanon or in Syria.
