BEIRUT: Cabinet will meet Friday to make key appointments to many vacant posts in the public sector, political sources said.

The sources told The Daily Star that President Michel Sleiman will preside over the meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. at Baabda Palace to discuss an agenda with 50 items.

The main item, however, is public appointments to key administrative posts, including the director generals of the ministries of economy and justice.

The session will also approve the appointments of the head of the Displaced Fund as well as the director generals of the cooperatives and National Institute of Public Administration.

Cabinet made 10 key appointments during an April 3 meeting that included the police chief and state prosecutor.
