Precipitation remains very low despite heavy rain in Lebanon

BEIRUT: Water levels are still very low in Lebanon despite the heavy rains that soaked the country over the past 24 hours.

A source at the Meteorology Department at Beirut airport said that up till Friday, Beirut had received 463 mm of precipitation, just over half last year’s amount (906 mm) and far below the yearly average of 815 mm.

Torrential rains soaked most parts of Lebanon Thursday.

Light, scattered rain is expected for most of Friday, particularly over mountainous areas, according to the source. Saturday will be a normal spring day with partial clouds.
