Police thwart prisoner's escape attempt in Nabatieh

BEIRUT: Police Saturday thwarted a prisoner's attempt to escape in Nabatieh, the National News Agency reported.

The inmate, identified as M.A. and convicted of murder, was among a group of inmates being transported to a local hospital.

He tried to escape once the vehicle transporting the prisoners to the hospital stopped outside the medical facility.

Police immediately tracked him down and captured him.

The prisoners were due to hospital to undergo medical tests.
