BEIRUT: Lebanon’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani urged the education minister to cancel official exams on Fridays, out of respect for Muslims.

“We urge Education Minister Elias Bou Saab to cancel exams at schools and universities on Fridays, which is a holiday for Muslims just as Sunday is a holiday for Christians," Qabbabi said in a statement.

He described as "sectarian discrimination" and "inequality among the Lebanese" the Education Ministry's insistence on holding exams on Fridays.
