Iran, U.N. envoys discuss Lebanon stability

BEIRUT: United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly said Monday that the international community was seeking to “consolidate” security and stability in Lebanon.

In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Ghazanfar Roknabadi, Plumbly praised the significant improvement in Lebanon’s security, according to a statement released by the Iranian Embassy.

The two officials discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region. Roknabadi also stressed that “rapprochement between countries in the region has a great impact on the region’s security and its stability, including Lebanon, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in Lebanon in its initial politics.”
