Refugees required to declare status in Lebanon

BEIRUT: General Security said Wednesday that  Palestinians fleeing Syria to Lebanon have a one-month grace period to settle their residency status in the country.

In a statement, the security agency asked Palestinians from Syria “and those who are in violation of residency regulations to go to General Security offices to settle their status during a period of one month, starting May 22.”

The move came days after authorities enforced new regulations to organize the massive presence of refugees in the country.

Palestinian refugees from Syria must now possess an entry permit approved by General Security, a residency of one to three years, or a Lebanese exit and return permit.
