ISF arrests two men driving car with fake MP plates

BEIRUT: Police have arrested two Lebanese men after they found two handguns and a small amount of cannabis in their car with a fake MP license plate.

A statement from the Internal Security Forces said policemen at a checkpoint near Zahle stopped a dark gray Range Rover Wednesday that had a forged official MP license plate.

After the vehicle was searched, police found and confiscated two pistols – a Herstal and a Glock – in addition to a small amount of marijuana and a box of Tramal and a jar of Rivotril with 19 pills.

Police took the two men in the SUV, identified as A.Q., 31, and M.I., 34, to the Zahle police station for interrogation.

During questioning, the men were found to be wanted by authorities for robbery and drug trafficking.
