North Lebanon Mufti Sheikh Malek al-Shaar canceled a planned Muslim-Christian summit Saturday due to the unstable situation in the northern city of Tripoli.The summit, which would have brought together the country's main religious figures, was scheduled to convene later Saturday in Tripoli at the request of Dar al-Fatwa, the highest Sunni authority.He called on Tripoli residents to cooperate with the Army and give the state a chance to settle the situation, referring to clashes between the military and Islamist gunmen that erupted Friday evening.
