As Lebanese martial artists continue to make their mark internationally, Lebanon is set to host the Middle East's very first martial arts festival in September. In attendance at the announcement were representatives from various martial arts unions in Lebanon, the Army Command and the Tourism Ministry, as well as diplomats. The event is organized by Sport Evasion and TARAK Development under the patronage of the Tourism Ministry. Some members of the Lebanese martial arts community voiced discontent about the event and took issue with the marginal presence of Lebanese martial artists it will include. The event comes as Lebanese martial arts professionals are beginning to make a name for themselves abroad. The tournament was organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, which recently elected Lebanese native Wissam Abi Nader to its board.
