The United States Senate has confirmed the appointment of David Hale, currently America's ambassador to Lebanon, as ambassador to Pakistan, according to a statement posted on the website of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.Hale has been ambassador to Lebanon since 2013 . Reports emerged that Elizabeth Richard, currently a deputy assistant secretary of state in the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, could succeed Hale as Beirut's next U.S. ambassador. In Beirut Tuesday, Hale underscored Washington's long relationship with the Kataeb Party after meeting with party chief Sami Gemayel.Hale said that he and Gemayel tackled a number of issues currently facing Lebanon.
