Controversial MP Khaled Daher Tuesday said radical Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir, who was arrested over the weekend after more than two years on the run over suspected soldier killings, was the victim of a "malicious conspiracy".The notoriously anti-Hezbollah MP appeared to be referring to a conspiracy theory that Hezbollah members disguised as pro-Assir militants attacked an Army post to instigate the June 2013 Sidon battle.Assir, who was arrested by General Security agents at Beirut airport Saturday, is wanted for sparking the battle with the Lebanese Army in the Abra neighborhood of Sidon in June 2013, in which 18 Army soldiers and around 40 militants were killed.
