Hundreds of acres of land were destroyed during the month of July after warm summer winds carried burning trash, causing brush fires across Lebanon, Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb said Tuesday.Chehayeb lamented the fact that trash fires have taken a toll on forests and caused damage to forest wealth, specifically in the Metn area of Mount Lebanon, Kesrouan and parts of the Chouf Mountain, southeast of Beirut. When asked about garbage being dumped near a monastery in Baabda, Chehayeb warned he would sue anyone throwing trash illegally.
