The You Stink group Monday rejected Environment Minister Mohammed Machnouk's announcement of new companies to treat the country's waste, and called for a new protest Saturday to demand sustainable solutions to the trash crisis.A separate group of protesters meanwhile began marching from the Justice Palace to Riad al-Solh, and later Monday the You Stink group called on its supporters to visit the protest square for a candlelight vigil for those wounded during the weekend violence.Earlier Monday, the group called for a march on its Facebook page from the Justice Palace to Riad al-Solh Square in downtown after weekend violence between demonstrators and riot police left 402 wounded, according to the Red Cross.The group Sunday had called for a protest Monday at 6 p.m., but cancelled it following the violence.A peaceful protest organized by the You Stink movement Saturday erupted into violence in Riad al-Solh and nearby Martyr's Square after riot police began using water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters trying to reach Nejmeh Square where Parliament headquarters is located.Protesters, angered by the police response, turned out in force again Sunday, in a largely peaceful protest that moved itself to Martyr's Square after some elements within the crowd began provoking police.
