Ahead of a busy holiday season, Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk called for strict measures to contain traffic jams at the first meeting of the National Committee for Road Safety Monday.The National Committee for Road Safety is headed by the interior minister and comprised of officials from a number of different bodies, including the director general of the Traffic Management Committee, the director general of Land and Sea Transport, and representatives of the Development and Reconstruction Council and the Internal Security Forces.A new traffic law went into effect in April. The formation of the committee and a new National Road Safety Council, headed by the prime minister, were stipulated by the traffic law.
