An aide to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emphasized Tuesday the importance of cooperation between his country and Lebanon, saying that both countries were playing an important role in restoring calm in the region.The meeting was held in the presence of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdul Lahyan, Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali and an accompanying delegation."The Lebanese-Iranian ties are historical and deep ... the two countries are playing an important and clear role in restoring calm, balance and stability in the region and the world," Velayati told reporters.He underlined that the developments in the region required such visits between Lebanon and Iran, in reference to Bassil's recent visit to Tehran in October.
