Gemayel revealed that his party is in constant contact with Frangieh, repeatedly saying that he was ready to back Frangieh's presidential bid if he abadnoned his current political positions.Frangieh had said one day earlier that he would not abandon his friends and allies following a meeting with Rai.Gemayel's meeting with Rai was later joined by Free Patriotic Movement leader Gebran Bassil.Rai had hinted his support for a potential deal that could see Frangieh become president despite opposition by the main local Christian parties, the Lebanese Forces, Kataeb Party and FPM.FPM founder Michel Aoun, who is Frangieh's political ally, is the March 8 presidential candidate, and LF chief Samir Geagea is supported by the March 14 coalition.
