Dozens of Lebanese nationals deported from the United Arab Emirates in March were carrying out illegitimate activities in the Gulf nation, UAE Ambassador Hamad Saeed AlShamsi said Thursday.Similar deportations targeted dozens of Lebanese living in the UAE in 2013 and 2009 .AlShamsi stressed that everyone is welcome in the UAE, provided they abide by the country's rules, adding that over 100,000 Lebanese are living dignified lives in the Gulf nation.AlShamsi assumed his post on June 1, becoming the first UAE ambassador to Lebanon in three years. The UAE was represented by a charge d'affaires during that period. AlShamsi is very familiar with the situation in Lebanon, serving as the UAE's deputy ambassador to Lebanon from 2004 to 2006 .Commenting on the presidential deadlock, AlShamsi said his country's stance was in line with the UAE's "neutral, clear, and balanced policy".AlShamsi said that he was also working on enhancing the UAE's economic and business ties with Lebanon, in both the public and private sectors.AlShamsi also promised that UAE tourists would flock to Lebanon once they are sure that the security situation will remain stable.
