The question that prevails is: What could be the case if these billions have been employed in development aid rather than emergency aid and post-war reconstruction?Still it is very important to bridge the gap between emergency humanitarian aid and long-term development aid to help people survive disasters and get back on the path to self-reliance and dignity. The importance of clarifying at what point humanitarian assistance, intended for short-term emergency relief, becomes development assistance is fundamental to addressing these challenges. Development aid has played an important, if sometimes imperfect, role in furthering international development objectives.Modern development aid has its origins in the immediate post-World War II era. However, in the new era, we need new development thinking. The development aid model in the post-2015 era and beyond should be gathered under a larger and more relevant label of international public finance for sustainable development, that will lead to new paths of sustainable and inclusive development for all countries. What's the best way to get fresh new ideas for development problems?
