Tuesday's Cabinet session is destined to fail, Social Affairs Minister Rashid Derbas said Monday, stoking fears that Prime Minister Tammam Salam may resign if no agreement to the Cabinet's decision-making formula is reached. On Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah's latest speech, Derbas said that some factions want to strip Salam of his prerogatives as a prime minister. In a televised speech Saturday at a graduation ceremony of sons and daughters of fallen Hezbollah fighters, Nasrallah warned Salam against resigning, saying such an "irrational and irresponsible" act would plunge the country into a power vacuum.Salam has refused such a demand, saying it could allow any party to easily paralyze the Cabinet.
