The road is on the Lebanese side of the Blue Line, between Abbasieh and Wazzani, and runs parallel to the occupied village of Ghajar. The south Lebanon demonstration is the latest of several since early June, after Israeli soldiers were spotted carving out an 8-meter-wide military route in a zone it illegally occupies between Shebaa and Kfar Shuba – roughly 50 meters away from a Lebanese Army outpost near the southern border. Resolution 1701, which put an end to the 2006 summer war with Israel.A UNIFIL spokesperson said the U.N. is continuing to negotiate the status of the road with the Israeli Army and the Lebanese Army.
